Should be more boring than it is
MAYBE
Release Date: July 5, 1991
Director: Richard Linklater
Language: English

Who should watch this: Film students. Really patient people.
When should you watch this movie: When your film class screens it for an assignment so you actually have to pay attention.
The sell: People said about Mama Mia, “There’s no plot!” Not only were they completely wrong, but they were actually talking about Richard Linklater’s “Slacker.” There is literally no plot. The film is shot POV in a single take as one camera is handed off from person to person through a full day in Los Angeles. Sometimes you’re at a fun dance party and sometimes you’re listening to a pot-head spout conspiracy theories. No scene relates to the others around it and there are no overarching themes beyond “a day in the life of some kids.” That being said, it’s not unenjoyable. It’s soft, it’s nice, nothing bad happens, and if you really get into it, you can feel like part of the action. Some of the rants are funny and you feel like a cooler person after the movie is over.
